Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball

Welcome to the 2009 Season!

Welcome to our 24th season of baseball! We've made some great changes in our upper divisions for our High School players; see the “What’s Happening” section below. Everyone should check out our 2009 Season Calendar: this will help you scheduling travel and vacations so you won't miss important events.

Registration opens Friday, November 28 for Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony Divisions (ages 5-14). Returning players will receive their annual information packets in the mail the week of November 16. New players can download the packet from the Registration Page or request one via e-mail.

What’s Happening in 2009

Upper Divisions Realigned
In response to a change by PONY Baseball, Inc., LA-MV is changing the age eligibility rules for Pony, Colt, and Palomino Divisions to “age and under.” Pony will be open to players of league age 14 and under, Colt to players age 16 and under, and Palomino to players age 19 and under. The primary purpose of this change is to improve the overall competitiveness of LA-MV’s high end programs. The skill levels required will be demanding, so it is not expected than any 12 year old players will chosen to play up to Pony; but we do expect experienced High School players who otherwise would have been restricted to Pony or Colt may “play up” to Colt or Palomino. For additional information, see our Age Eligibility Changes Page.

Colt and Palomino to use professional coaches. LA-MV has secured the commitment of the coaching staff of St. Francis High School for coaching Colt Division, and is working to expand that commitment to include the coaching staffs at additional High Schools and in Palomino. Additional information will be available as we move into the spring.

On-line Registration
Once again, we are offering on-line registration and payment for both new and returning players. Each family logs in or creates an account, registers one or more children, and pays via secure credit card processing.

League Boundaries
There are no residence restrictions for our Regular Season and Club Teams; players from any city are welcome. Residency is only an issue for participation in PONY-sanctioned, post-season “All-Star” tournaments. The boundaries for LA-MV remain the same in 2009 as in 2008. For additional information, see our League Boundaries Page.

Age Cut Off For 2009
In 2007, the age cut off date was moved up three months to April 30th. That date will remain as the cut off date this year. A player's League Age for the 2009 season is their chronological age on April 30, 2009. For example, if a player turns 10 on April 15, he would be considered league age 10, since he is 10 on April 30. If he turns 10 on May 15, he would be considered league age 9, since he is 9 on April 30.

No Age Cut Off Change for 2010
PONY Baseball Inc. had previously announced that the age cut off date would be moved to December 31 for the 2010 season. That has been rescinded; we expect the age cut off to remain the same for the foreseeable future.
